Pentastar 3.6l Spin On Adapter

Pentastar Cartridge to Spin-On Oil filter adapter fits 2014 + 3.2 and 3.6-liter Pentastar engines. Cartridge Filters have no anti-drain back valve. This product provides faster oil pressure at startup by keeping the upper oil system flooded. The adapter contains a full flow check valve and a unique threaded locking mechanism. Utilizes Schrader valve for oil evacuation when removing spin-on filter. Made and patented in the USA.

This solves a weakness in the design of our 3.6l engines.  Dry [oil] starts.  The longer your 3.6l sits off, the more oil drains into the pan.  During start the oil pump must move the oil to the top of the engine.  Using this Baxter Performance Oil filter adapter oil will be in the upper and lower part of the engine!  The oil gets to your valve train faster and creates less wear.

I spoke to Kevin Baxter, inventor, today and he says since Northridge 4×4 did an installation video of their product on YouTube they have been flying off the shelves.  I was very impressed with this product when I interviewed Kevin and after talking to Roger M. after the last round table I am focused on getting one in my Gladiator.  His wife’s JL is in the shop because of a ticking noise after only 20k miles.

I highly recommend you look into this oil filter adapter, because even if the repair is free from Jeep, you’ll be without your Jeep, and there isn’t a guarantee the repair will be as good as it was from the factory.

Fabrication Frenzy, with Larry, JeepingMo

I have a question for you. OK, Jeepers I have a question for all of you. we all have an opinion on what lift kit is the best, and what features make them the best. there are different ways to link everything, 3-link, 4-link, and triangulated 4-link.  Each has parts that everyone likes.

Each manufacturer uses different joints and different shapes and sizes of control arms.

Then we have springs and shocks.

Are you running dual-rate springs, or looking at some of the new airbag systems? What about adjustable shocks, or do you prefer a fixed shock and try to pick the best ride for your rig?

So with that, we all like different ways to build our rig.  We all get our information for our builds from different places, it could be that our friends have done similar builds, or we have seen something that we like in the system.  And budget is always a big driver on what system we buy. Now there is always buying components because you plan on building your suspension, but you have to make a decision on the joints and materials you are going to use.

So with all of that Jeeper, I am putting out a question to you.  What systems or components do you run, and why did you pick what you running?

We would like to know what are systems you all are running, please call in or reach out on our discord room and let us know what your running.

You must have a Jeep Talk Show sticker!  Currently, we are sending out stickers to the first 25 people to post on Instagram something, good or bad, about the Jeep Talk Show and put @jeeptalkshow and #jeeptalkshow in the post!  We only have a few spots left.  The only other way to get a Jeep Talk Show sticker online is to become a Patreon subscriber.

Episode 893 – Airbags Instead of Coils?

Stellantis Makes Offer

Stellantis announced fresh layoffs Wednesday that they blamed on damage from the United Auto Workers strike, and the labor standoff grew more tense just two days before the union was expected to call for new walkouts.

Stellantis provided a glimmer of hope for a breakthrough by giving the union a new contract proposal. However, a company spokeswoman said the offer primarily covered non-economic issues.

It was not clear whether the Stellantis offer would satisfy union President Shawn Fain, who vows to announce new strike targets on Friday unless there is “serious progress” toward agreements with GM, Stellantis, and Ford.

So far UAW workers are striking at just three factories, one for each company. It’s a novel approach for the union, which in the past has focused negotiations on one company and limited a 2019 strike to GM. Fain says his approach will keep the companies guessing about UAW’s next move.

Part Thieves Target Jeeps

Two men, ages 22 and 25, stand accused of stealing from Jeeps parked at Miami, Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood international airports.

The suspects, Jonathan Quintero and Diogenes Morel Martinez, took the hood, the front bumper, a spare tire, and an antenna from a traveler’s Jeep on Sept. 7 at MIA, according to police.

“How in the heck could this happen in a parking garage?” the victim said. “They had taken the hood, the front bumper, both right and left fenders on the front, the spare tire, and the antenna.”

The victim told Local 10 News that two or three other vehicles were also stripped of parts in the same parking garage.

MIA released a statement saying the surveillance cameras in the garages didn’t cover the area of the heist.

Last week, there were similar cases at Palm Beach International Airport in spots where there weren’t any surveillance cameras.

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives said they witnessed the suspects stealing headlights and grills from two Jeep Wranglers Saturday inside a parking garage at Fort Lauderdale’s airport.

From there, they say the duo tried to commit a similar crime at Sawgrass Mills Mall but were taken into custody.

Jeep Talk Show Gladiator Update

ACCUAIR SUSPENSION

JEEP GLADIATOR (JT) 2019 – PRESENT 4.0″ DYNAMIC LIFT KIT $6,999.99

Many parts, as you can imagine but it is 100% bolt-on.  There are 3 ride heights.  1 – lower by 2” (drive at any speed) 2 – 4.5” 3 – Raise to max height 1” above default, 5.5” of lift 25 mph max.  Driving at 3, if you exceed 25 mph your airbag suspension with drop to default ride height.

This replaces the coils of your suspension system.

The spring rate is the same as the factory coils as long as you are not riding on the bumpstops, or at max ride height.

You can control each of the 4 airbags independently with the phone app, or the wired controller.

Pressing and holding the down for 3 seconds sets the height on the bump stops to allow for easy entry.

$7000 is a lot of money, but sliders with drop entry steps are over $2000

This also provides you onboard air with an air tank and the ability to air up your tires.

Episode 891 – Welding Under $100?

Jeep Unveils 2024 Jeep Gladiator

Jeep’s mid-size pickup gets a new grille, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, side curtain airbags, and available power front seats.

Jeep’s truck also adds two top-tier models—Mojave X and Rubicon X—and there are new AEV upfit packages.

The 2024 Gladiator now sports a restyled version of Jeep’s trademark seven-slot grille. Along with being visually slimmer, its textured slots are said to help improve engine cooling. With Jeep discontinuing the optional diesel V-6, that leaves the 285-hp V-6 as the lone powerplant—at least for now, as the Gladiator is destined to get the brand’s 4xe plug-in-hybrid powertrain at some point.

the antenna is now built into the windshield, unlike the old one that could get caught on branches out on the trail or damaged in hands-free carwashes.

The Sport S and above also now have standard forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control.

With orders now open, 2024 Gladiators will reach dealerships at the end of the year.

Stolen Jeep Chase

Boy, 17, arrested after Atlanta police chase stolen Jeep in parking garage; 3 on the run

A 17-year-old found himself in hot water with the law after his three co-conspirators abandoned him during a police chase inside in a multi-story parking garage. The incident, which unfolded on Sept. 13 near Ted Turner Drive and Peachtree Place, involved a stolen vehicle, firearms, narcotics, and a daring escape attempt.

Around 5:32 p.m., officers from Zone 5 of the Atlanta Police Department spotted a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling down the street with no license plate and a shattered rear window. Officers also noticed a quartet of young males concealed beneath hoodies and gloves.

A subsequent investigation of the stolen vehicle unveiled a trove of illegal contraband. During a search, officers uncovered an FN 509 9MM handgun and a Glock 35 .40 caliber handgun, the latter reported stolen from DeKalb County. In addition to the firearms, a stash of marijuana weighing 101.5 grams, Psilocybin mushrooms amounting to 57 grams, and $535.00 (USD) were found in the teenager’s backpack.

As a result of these discoveries, the 17-year-old was taken into custody and slapped with a laundry list of charges, including Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (2 Counts), Possession of a Schedule IV Substance, Possession of a Schedule I Substance, Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm Under 18 Years Old, Theft by Receiving (Vehicle), Theft by Receiving (Firearm), and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Fabricating Frenzy with Larry

How low can you go to start welding?

Jeepers always want to build components for their rig, if you want to buy a cheap welder just to see if welding is something you want to do before you invest in that larger machine for your projects.

So how cheap can you start mig welding With a 110v machine.? Well, I recently did a video on that topic.

We went through and found the cheapest welder I could find on Amazon, that would allow you to flux core mig,  maybe stick welding. And if we could get a  provision to TIG weld.  This would only be a DC welding only, so no welding aluminum.

But that would be a good way to test the waters.

So we found a small 110v unit built by Yes Welder for $99. It does all the above.  But we did not know how well it would do with them.

So we started with the flux core to see how it would do on a 1/8” steel plate.

The machine did okay with the 1/8 plate, the unit wants to blow a 20amp breaker at the higher settings.

For the stick welding, I tried a 3/32 7018 electrode.  It kept tripping the breaker.  I went down to 62 amps and used a 1/16 electrode, which worked well.

We did not buy a tig torch for the unit, it would put us over $100.

For the price it is a nice unit for the hobbyists, or someone welding thinner metals, or if you’re trying to decide if you want to start welding more in your garage.

Episode 889 – Texas Jeep Friendly?

Texas becomes Jeep Friendly!

Texas drivers will no longer need annual car inspections beginning in 2025, but there’s a catch….

Texas was one of 13 states that still mandated annual inspections for cars.

Cars in some of the state’s larger counties will still need to pass an emissions check.

Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 3297 into law on Tuesday, which will eliminate the annual car inspection requirement for most vehicles in the state.

The law will go into place beginning in 2025 and will be replaced by an annual fee of $7.50. It’s the same as the current inspection fee but without the need to take your vehicle to a shop.

If your vehicle was not previously registered, you’ll pay $16.75 instead. Some of that money will go into several state funds, including the Texas Mobility Fund, which aims at accelerating transportation projects.

Cars in some of the state’s larger counties, like Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Montgomery, and Galveston, will still need to pass an emissions check.

Nexen Roadian ATX (All Terrain)

I mentioned in a previous episode that we were testing a new tire that Nexen introduced.

The new Roadian ATX is a 3-peak and super strong, yet flexible 3-ply sidewall and is great for all types of off-roading. Now normally you wouldn’t say an ATX was good for crawling but we put the tires through their paces and they did very well on two black diamond trails along with some mud and sand. They are very quiet on the highway so anyone looking for an all-terrain but you want to do some trails, this tire could be a consideration for you. There is a warranty and roadside service with the tires too. 35” is the biggest right now

Best news: Nexen ATX is going to be the OEM tire for the 2024 Wranglers and Gladiators and the new Recon and they are the OEM for the new Dodge Charger ( 5500 lbs w/1000hp)

Jeep Talk Show Gladiator Update

Getting ready for EJS 2024

The 2021 Jeep Talk Show Gladiator did a wonderful job getting me to and from Moab and navigated several trails.

Next year I will have the Trails offroad map on my phone that will work with or without cell service!

Even though there are a few things I want to do to the gladiator first.

As previously mentioned getting the full skid system installed and now I’m looking at aftermarket diff covers and diff skids.

Do I really need these, well probably not but it will make me feel better scraping over rocks.

Larger tires and a larger lift would help but I think the lift will stay and the tires get bigger, but that will be down the road when I go to 4.56 or 4.88 gears and lockers.
